Whoa! Take a look at the new Toyota IMV Origin. It’s a mini truck that comes in a crate and you finish assembling it yourself. The IMV Original was just unveiled at the Japanese Mobility Show and it is meant for the rural markets in Africa. Here is everything we know about it. Let’s dig in!
The IMV Origin an electrified vehicle that arrives as a flat skateboard chassis. It comes with rugged all-terrain tires, as it is meant to serve in rural areas where there are no paved roads or the pavement is very rough. Next, the new owner would add a safety roll-cage structure for right-hand or left-hand drive. It’s meant as a single person vehicle with lots of room to carry cargo and things. It comes with headlights, turn signals, tail lamps, an inflatable cushion for a seat and a single seat belt.
It has several storage compartments, tow hooks, and the rest is a blank canvas to be customized in whichever way you wish. It can be used as a flat bed, or the owner can add racks or other accessories to it to make it fit whatever task is needed.
Toyota did not specify the power numbers, battery size, or driving range. We also do not know how much it may cost. We are guessing the price will be very low (under $10,000 equivalent). This way it can be accessible to more customer around Africa and other regions around the world.
We want to buy one or two of these as work vehicles for the ranch. This could be a great replacement for some side-by-side utility vehicles or kei trucks we currently have.
