Toyota surprises us today with this Land Cruiser ROX concept vehicle that the company will display at the SEMA 2024 show in Las Vegas, NV next week. This is not a close look at the finished concept, it’s still a tease at this point. However, could it be foreshadowing a production vehicle? Could it be something like a Toyota FJ pickup truck?
This ROX concept has been designed at Toyota’s CALTY design studio and built at their Michigan engineering facility. These are the same people who design and engineer Toyota’s production vehicles for North America.

Let me be clear. Don’t think of this as a return of the $35,000 FJ Cruiser. Think of this as a topless Land Cruiser (series 250) variant that may come with a hefty price tag. It’s not what a FJ45 successor would be. It could be a high-end version of the new Land Cruiser with an open top and a short cargo bed. Something that could compete against the Ford Bronco Raptor or the Jeep Wrangler 392.
Toyota says that the ROX concept has rigid structure, a functioning tailgate, and a functioning midgate that can be folded down. It has a lifted suspension, large all-terrain tires, and very aggressive front and rear concept bumpers.
What do you think? Is this simply a concept vehicle that will never see the light of day as any production model? Could it be foreshadowing something very cool that people could buy?
Here is an early look at the 2025 Toyota 4Runner Surf concept that is also coming to SEMA.
