Ford is updating the 2027 Ford F-150 pickup truck lineup. There is a new base engine, new grilles, a first-ever F-150 Carhartt edition, hands-free towing, and a significantly lower priced F-150 Tremor and F-150 Raptor. Here are all the details. Let’s dig in!
New 2027 Grilles
Ford is updating the exterior appearance of their truck lineup with new grilles on the XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum models. All of these trim levels get their own version of a double horizontal bar element. These double bars are designed to smoothly integrate into the different versions of the headlights.
New Base Engine
The current 2.7L EcoBoost twin-turbo V6 is no more. Ford is introducing a new base engine to the lineup. It’s the 3.0L EcoBoost twin-turbo V6. It’s from the same “nano” engine family. It features a slightly higher displacement. Ford’s engineering team says that they made the engine change in order to offer more low-end torque than the previous engine could deliver.
Here are the power and capability rating for all 2027 Ford F-150 engine options.
The new 3.0L V6 is rated at the same 325 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque as the outgoing 2.7L V6. However, please note that Ford specifies the maximum 400 lb-ft of torque is available at 2,250 rpm. The outgoing 2.7L V6 was fun to drive, and this new 3.0L V6 should be fun as well.
The F-150 3.0L V6 joins many other vehicles in Ford’s lineup with the same engine architecture. The Ranger Raptor, Bronco Raptor, Bronco Filson, and Explorer ST among others use a twin-turbo 3.0L V6 as well. When combined with different turbochargers and tuning, this engine is capable of high horsepower and torque numbers. It will be fun to see where Ford takes it from here.
The First-Ever 2027 Ford F-150 Carhartt Edition
Ford is expanding its Carhartt partnership with the introduction of the first-ever F-150 Carhartt Edition truck. This truck joins the 2027 Ford Super Duty Carhartt Edition, which you can already configure and buy. The F-150 Carhartt edition starts with a 2027 Ford F-150 XLT trim in a crew cab 4×4 5.5-foot bed configuration. The Carhartt Edition’s exterior features an F-150 Tremor dome hood and F-150 Lobo headlights. It’s rolling on 20-inch wheels that are similar to the ones you can buy on a Ford Expedition Active models.
The exterior is finished with Carhartt decals and sport rear bumper with dual exhaust outlets. The F-150 Carhartt Edition can be optioned with a 3.5L EcoBoost V6, a 5.0L V8, or a 3.5L twin-turbo V6 Hybrid.
The interior features comfortable and good looking seats that are finished in a unique water repellent fabric that’s inline with the Carhartt apparel style.
The F-150 Carhartt Edition pricing starts at $65,455 (including the $2,795 destination charge). You can order these models now. The F-150 Carhartt Edition deliveries will begin in early 2027.
New Entry-Level Ford F-150 Tremor
The new entry level 2027 F-150 Tremor is based on the STX trim level. Ford refers to it as a Tremor “400A” package. It still has a lifted suspension with specially tuned shocks. It still rides on 33-inch all-terrain tires and features the Tremor skid plates. It has 4Hi and 4Lo transfer case and a selectable rear locking differential.
It includes an STX steering wheel, manual A/C instead of a dual zone climate control, the removal of heated front seats, a 6-speaker audio system rather than the 8-speaker B&O system, the deletion of off-road running boards, and fixed rear glass in place of the power sliding rear window. All these changes add up to a significant savings of $5,300 when compared to the base 2026 F-150 Tremor.
The 2027 Ford F-150 Tremor lineup is still powered by a choice between a 3.5L EcoBoost V6 or a 5.0L Coyote V8. The 2027 F-150 Tremor starting price will be close to $62,400 (including the $2,795 destination charge).
New Entry-Level Ford F-150 Raptor
The new entry-level 2027 F-150 Raptor also retain all of the Raptor’s off-road hardware and capability. It’s still powered by a 450-horsepower high-output 3.5L twin-turbo V6. The new “800A” Raptor package keeps the FOX Live-valve dampers and its premium interior.
The 800A package removes the head-up display, fog lamps, 2kW Pro Power Onboard capability, Mobile Office package, power passenger seat, and under-seat storage. It swaps the power-adjustable steering column for a manual/tilt column and steps down from 14-speaker B&O audio to an 8-speaker B&O system. The result is an F-150 Raptor with starting price that is $4,000 lower than before.
The 2027 Ford F-150 Raptor starting price will be $77,800 (including the $2,795 destination charge).
Hands-Free Towing
Ford is introducing an enhancement to the company’s Blue Cruise hands-free driving system. The new F-150’s Blue Cruise is able to handle towing a trailer that weighs up to 10,000 pounds. If your F-150 is equipped with a maximum towing package and it’s Blue Cruise capable and enabled – you can get this software update.
There are some caveats. This hands-free driving feature has a maximum speed limit of 75 MPH. The system may choose to lower the top speed based on existing weather or road conditions. If the system detects a construction zone, it will ask the driver to take over. If the system detects an overloaded or improperly loaded trailer, it will ask the driver to take over. Improperly inflated tires can also cause the hands-free system to disengage.
A quick clarification about the BlueCruise with the hands-free towing OTA software update for existing owners of older F-150 trucks. The BlueCruise with hands-free towing will be available for trailers up to 5,000 lbs on older trucks. The timing of this OTA is not yet available.
This system is in direct competition with GM’s Super Cruise hands-free system that has offered towing capability since the spring of 2022. GM’s hands-free driving system is capable of towing up to 9,000 pounds (for the 2026 model year).
