Ram is launching its first ever Power Wagon with a Cummins turbo-diesel. Is this 2027 Ram Power Wagon diesel for real? I go hands-on with a fully-optioned model to see what it’s all about. Let’s dig in!
Customers have been asking for a factory diesel-powered Power Wagon for decades. Ram is listening by bring this model to market. However, does it have all of the Power Wagon hardware? How much does it cost?
The classic Power Wagon qualities include front and rear locking differentials, a disconnecting front anti-sway bar, and excellent articulation. It’s a focused and dedicated off-roader that sacrifices payload and towing capacity in order to be great off-road.
This new 2027 Cummins-diesel Power Wagon strikes a different balance. It keeps the front/rear locking differentials and the disconnecting front anti-sway bar. However, it removes the high flexibility of the front Articulink suspension design. It also removes the factory front-mounted winch.
In turn, it adds a massively powerful and efficient 6.7L Cummins I6 turbo-diesel with 430 horsepower and 1.075 lb-ft of torque. This engine is mated to an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission and a 3.42-to-1 rear axle ratio.

This Cummins Power Wagon also has massive increase in payload and towing capacity over its HEMI-powered counterpart.
This 2027 model also has the 20-inch wheels and 34-inch Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac tires that are also available on the Ram HD Rebel models. This tire has the higher weight rating to satisfy the extra payload and towing requirements.
The 2027 Ram HD Power Wagon Diesel has a starting price of $88,470 (including destination charges). The model you see in this video has a sticker price of over $103,000.
