The first-ever diesel-powered 2027 Ram Power Wagon from the factory is finally here. It has a lot of power and an absolutely massing amount of torque. Is it that much quicker than the standard HEMI V8-powered Power Wagon? We wanted to find out by doing this fun 1/4-mile drag race. Let’s go!
The new 2027 Ram Power Wagon can be optioned with a high-output 6.7L Cummins turbo-diesel. It’s rated at 430 horsepower and 1,075 lb-ft of torque. The engine is mated to a heavy-duty 8-speed ZF automatic transmission. It has 3.42-to-1 rear axle ratio.
The standard Power Wagon is powered by a familiar 6.4L HEMI V8 that is rated at 405 hp and 429 lb-ft of torque. This engine is also mated to an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission. It’s sending the power to the rear wheels via a 4.10-to-1 axle ratio.
The V8-powered truck also happens to be about 1,000 pounds lighter than the full-optioned and luxurious diesel truck.
