The wheels get bigger, the price goes up!

2025 chevy suburban first drive

The refreshed 2025 Chevy Tahoe and Chevy Suburban are here. They are starting to ship to dealers now. You can get optional 24-inch wheels, and here is what it’s like to drive. Let’s dig in!

These are the best-selling full-size three-row SUVs in the country. The chassis is largely unchanged, the engines are the same, but the suspension has been adjusted to handle larger and heavier wheels and tires. You can get a new Tahoe or Suburban with 24s from the factory. Adding larger wheels and tires on a production vehicle is no small task. Chevrolet had to comply with all relevant government regulations. Chevrolet selected the low-profile tires in order to maximize comfort and maintain payload and towing capability.

The low-profile tires generally make the ride harsh, but the air suspension, dampers, and tires on the Suburbans I sampled return a very comfortable and smooth ride. I had limited time in these new SUVs, but I was able to drive these huge SUVs on a variety of paved roads and highways near Dallas, TX. The suspension is able to soak up most of the rough pavement. Cobblestone is challenging for any vehicle and it is a challenge for the new Suburban on 24s. Still, it’s impressive what they are able to do with a fancy suspension these days.

The new styling, interior design, and technology come at a higher price. The base 2025 Chevy Tahoe costs about $5,300 more than a comparable 2024 model (see below for a detailed pricing guide).

Our more detailed first drive review is coming tomorrow. In the meantime, please enjoy the videos below.

The Chevy Suburban is celebrating 90 years in 2025. This is the longest continuously running automotive nameplate in the industry. The Tahoe and Suburban are built in Arlington, TX (near Dallas and Fort Worth).
