Ford is doing something different with this new Ford F-450 high-output turbo-diesel pickup truck. This Platinum Plus model is also the most expensive truck that they currently sell (if you don’t consider dealership markups). Let’s take it for a test drive and see all of the mind-blowing features that it offers. Let’s dig in!
This Ford may look like any other F-350 dually heavy-duty pickup truck. It has a couple of important differences that make it more desirable. This is a consumer version of the Ford F-450 chassis cab trucks. It has a wider front axle for a much better turning radius. It has 10-lug hubs all the way around.
This consumer version F-450 can be equipped with a choice between two 6.7L Power Stroke turbo-diesel V8 engines: a standard output 475 hp version and a high-output 500 horsepower version for $3,500 extra. I would go for the more powerful H.O. engine option since a potential buyer aims to spend over six figures for this luxurious truck.
You may think that this F-450 would have a higher weight class truck than an F-350 dually, but it has the same 14,000 lbs GVWR. This limits its payload capacity somewhat. This truck has a payload rating of around 4,500 lbs. This truck is rated to tow up to 32,900 lbs via a gooseneck hitch. It’s also rated to tow a massive 30,000 lbs via its 3-inch receiver conventional “bumper” hitch.
This F-450 is equipped with a Platinum Plus package. It takes the already luxurious Platinum trim up to yet another level. This truck offers power steps, max-recline front seats that heating/ventilation and massage.
