Just look on the inside!

Here is the official debut of the refreshed 2022 Lincoln Navigator, the company’s top dog SUV. While this full-size luxury liner may appear very familiar from the outside, there are many changes and new design themes throughout. The newest Navigator gets minor design changes on the outside. The new headlight and taillight design are pretty easy to spot. The Ford Raptor-sourced powertrain remains mostly the same, but the interior gets many new luxurious touches and technologies.

Power

What is powering the new Navigator? The 3.5-liter twin-turbo high-output V6 makes a return for 2022. It now has a slightly different power rating. The engine is rated at 440 horsepower @ 5,850 rpm and 510 lb-ft of torque @ 3,000 rpm. Basically, the new engine produces 10 horsepower less than before. The latest 2022 emissions regulations may be the cause for this tuning change, but we will investigate this further and let you know more details soon. The engine is still mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission.

If you were expecting a 3.5L Hybrid V6, there is no official news about this powertrain option at this time. This power option has been rumored for a very long time. We will have to wait and see if it will be added at a later date.

Interior

Lincoln’s popular Black Label series has been expanded in a big way with the introduction of the Invitation, Chalet, Central Park, and the Yacht Club themes. These new luxurious themes combine their own materials and colors combinations. This extends all the way to the selection of the wooden inlays, etching, and perforations in the seats.

Technology & Comfort

The updated 2022 Navigator introduces the new ActiveGlide hands-free driver assistance system. This system works in much the same way as Ford’s Blue Cruise. While driver’s attention is still required, the Navigator can drive in a hands-free fashion on pre-mapped highways and roads.

If you want to be cuddled or entertained – the new Navigator aims to have your back. It does have 30-way adjustable seats with an upgraded massage function. The new 13.2-inch center infotainment screen is running the latest version of SYNC 4. There are several screens for the rear passengers as well. The driver has an updated heads-up display. If you want to enjoy music or audio – the Navigator is available with a 28-speaker Revel Ultima 3D audio system.

Since it is a truck-based full-size SUV – the new Navigator is capable of towing up to 8,700 lbs. It is available with a trailer backup assist system. Both standard and long-wheelbase versions of the Navigator will be available.

How does it stack up against the latest competition from GM and Jeep? The newest Navigator definitely brings the interior refinement and the available technologies to rival the 2022 Grand Wagoneer and the latest Cadillac Escalade. The new Navigator does offer the most torque in the class, but Grand Wagoneer’s large 6.4L V8 has more horsepower and maximum towing capacity. We will have to put these competitors together soon for a head-to-head battle.

While the pricing is not available yet, the new 2022 Lincoln Navigator will go on sale in early 2022, according to the company.

We plan to drive the new 2022 Navigator in the near future, in the meantime here is a full introduction of the current Navigator.
