Here is everything we know so far about the upcoming 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 LTD and 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Limited trucks. This information comes to us via the GMFleetOrderGuide official website. Many of you already started ordering these 2022 trucks, or at least you can get access to this information via your Chevrolet or GMC dealer.

If you were expecting a refreshed truck with a new look and updated technology, these updates are coming a bit later in the 2022 model year. We don’t have an exact date yet, but we should know more about it this fall. For now, this continuation of the current trucks is being referred to by Chevrolet as “Silverado 1500 LTD”, and by GMC as “Sierra 1500 Limited”. Don’t confuse the Sierra “Limited” designation for a new luxurious version of the truck. In this case, the Limited name refers to the early 2022 model year trucks.

Let’s dig deeper into what’s new for 2022.

As we reported earlier this year, the 4.3-liter gas V6 and the older-design 5.3-liter gas V8 with AFM are being discontinued. The 6-speed automatic transmission is facing the same fate. This transmission is going away. The 2.7-liter turbocharged gas I4 is now the base engine on Silverado WT, Custom, and Custom Trail Boss trucks. The DFM-equipped 5.3-liter gas V8 can now be had on a base Work Truck model. The C67 Air Conditioning deletion refers to the single zone A/C. Naturally, new Silverado trucks will be equipped with other versions of the A/C system.

Another notable deletion is the HD Radio capability. We will have to dig into this one further.

As we reported yesterday, the 2022 Silverado LT Trail Boss can be optioned with a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel I6.

The new 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Limited truck lineup sees the same engine lineup changes. the 4.3-liter gas V6 and the AFM 5.3-liter gas V8 are going away. The 6-speed is also removed.

GMC is changing their trim level naming a bit. The base 1SA model will now be referred to as Sierra 1500 Pro. The popular Sierra 1500 AT4 will no longer offer the DFM 5.3-liter gas V8. The AT4 will come standard with a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel I6. The top of the line Denali Ultimate model will now be referred to as Sierra 1500 Denali Reserve.

As we learn more about GM’s 2022 lineup of trucks, we will publish more image, video, and information right here at TFLtruck.com.
