Trucks are back baby and the latest trend result reported by google.com is that the Ford F-150 had the most searches of any car in February 2014. More than the Honda Accord, Toyota Camry and Lamborghini Huracán, the Ford F-150 was on the minds of many web surfers. Perhaps the added PR, commercials and Jimmy Fallon’s “choice” orbiting around the 2015 Ford F-150 gave it an extra bump in consumer curiosity.

This is good news for the entire light duty pickup industry in North America. The appreciable increase of people who research the Ford F-150 will result in more searches for competitors. Indeed, the new Chevrolet Silverado 1500, GMC Sierra 1500, Ram 1500 and the Toyota Tundra stand at the ready with competitive trucks and prices. Don’t forget: Nissan will be reasserting itself into the fray with an all new Titan soon.
Granted: the ardent Ford F-150 fans tend to outweigh other truck enthusiasts and they certainly give the overall sales dominance to the F-150 in North America. That helps account for Google’s search numbers. It should prove interesting to see what Ford’s competition has up their sleeves. Google’s numbers say a lot. We’re about to enter a new phase in light duty pickup truck’s consumer sales and Ford seems to be in the lead – for now.
