There is more than a very good chance that you know the Back To The Future movie trilogy and the date – October 21, 2015. This is the distant future date that Marty, Doc, and Lorraine travel to from 1985. In the movie, 2015 is the time of hover boards, self-tying shoes, perfect weather forecasts, and flying cars. Well, the future is now. Actually the future is technically tomorrow. However, Toyota is teasing us with a custom pickup truck made to look exactly like the one Marty McFly had in 1985.
Lexus has created a hover board that uses super-conductor levitation, but there is only one example and this technology can only be used on a prepared surface and costs millions of dollars.
We have several vertical take-off planes that you could consider a “flying car” in a pinch, but these are either in concept phase as the XTI TriFan 600 and/or cost millions of dollars like the AW609 TiltRotor.
Nike promised a self-tying shoe, but I have not seen one lately.
It’s not all bad. You can still buy a 4×4 truck from Toyota with a manual transmission. Check out this commercial by Toyota that teases the “Marty McFly” pickup truck. It is coming tomorrow.
Please leave a comment if you want to see Toyota sell a “Back to the Future” package for the 2016 or future Tacoma.
If you are wondering about the covered car next to the truck? It is likely the hydrogen-powered Toyota Mirai.
