The all-new Aboard RV range extender self-propelled camping trailer is a whole new way of looking at your next camping adventure. This one is called “T4”, which means it sleeps four people. This trailer is not that big, but it packs a significant punch. Aboard RV says that it’s a four-season camper with an ability to stay off the grid for about one week. It’s equipped with an electric motor on one of its axles, a fairly large battery, a four-cylinder combustion engine/generator, and a distinct floor plan. Let’s dig in!

The T4 is just about 24-feet long. It packs a total of around 200 kWh of energy when you combine its main battery and the gasoline generator. It boasts an automotive type of construction. It combines a steel frame with an aluminum body into a unibody-type vehicle. It has a door on each side of the camper, and a large clam-shell opening in the back. It rides on a tandem axle setup and it weighs close to 6,200 lbs. The T4 has a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating of 7,500 lbs.
The starboard side door brings you into the kitchen area. It’s literally in the center of the floorpan and hallways on both sides. This may the T4 has very large windows on all sides (other than the toilet/shower area on the other side). The port side door brings you into the “mud room” and shower/bathroom area. Up front is semi-circular dinette which converts into a queen-sized bed.
The rear section can be configured in two ways. One configuration offers a Murphy-bed that folds into the wall to reveal a small office area. The other configuration is an L-shaped couch that converts into a bed.
Since this trailer can a 60 kW electric motor, it helps the tow vehicle while on the move. We have not tested it yet, but have an experience with a similar system. This trailer can minimize the MPG or range hit while being towed. It also has solar panels on the roof to gather even more energy.
All this comes at a starting price of $80,000. This is a considerable amount of money, but it is significantly lower than the existing competitors.
