Should GM build a new Chevy Silverado 1500 SS high-performance street pickup truck? The world is still talking about the world debut of the 2027 Silverado 1500 lineup. Chevrolet plans to offer up to seven distinct trims of its latest full-size pickup truck, but a street muscle truck is not on the list. The question is – would you buy a new Silverado SS if it was available?

We provide a rendering of what a 2028 Chevy Silverado 1500 SS may look like. This is a TFLtruck.com rendering and there is not information from GM about this model.

What would power such a truck? Chevrolet says that the new Silverado 1500 6.6L V8 and the new LS6 Corvette 6.7L V8 have a lot in common. Naturally, the truck’s engine is tuned for higher torque and lower horsepower. Chevrolet did not provide any Silverado 1500 power specifications at this time. This information is coming later this year.

The Corvette engine tuning is focused on higher horsepower figures. The new 2027 Chevy Corvette Grand Sport is rated at 535 horsepower and 520 lb-ft of torque. The Corvette’s torque number is impressively high. This could be a great engine for the new Silverado 1500 SS.

Why do this? Stellantis is coming back with a trio of new street muscle trucks: the 2027 Ram 1500 Rumble Bee, the Rumble Bee 392, and the Rumble Bee SRT. The Rumble Bee 392 is powered by the Apache version of the 6.4L HEMI V8 engine that is rated at 470 horsepower. The Rumble Bee SRT has a supercharged Hellcat 6.2L HEMI V8 with 777 horsepower.

Ford is offering the F-150 Lobo with a 5.0L Coyote V8 that is rated at 400 horsepower. This one can be supercharged at the dealership to produce around 700 horsepower.

GM can jump into this game with their own SS model that produces around 500 horsepower from its V8.
