This week has been packed with new 2022 Toyota Tundra news, and now we have even more. TFL viewer, Jeremy T., captured these images of a prototype Tundra truck with a bit less camouflage. Thank you Jeremy for the images.

The dealership leak showed some image of a Tundra TRD Pro. Next, Toyota published a single official image of the next-generation Tundra TRD Pro off-road truck. This prototype appears to wear a whole different grille and trim. It’s still a crew cab, and the large wheels suggest this may be a luxury trim of the upcoming Tundra.

This prototype was caught testing alongside a new 2021 Ford F-150 on top of Mount Evans in Colorado. This is a highest elevation paved road in North America. This road starts near Idaho Springs at around 7,000 feet above sea level and climbs all the way to 14,130 feet above the sea.

Any engine will struggle for oxygen at this altitude, and Toyota is doing altitude validation testing with what we think is a 3.5-liter twin-turbo gas V6 engine that may be rated at 409 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque. Toyota has not officially confirmed this engine or its power rating.

We expect to know all of the truck’s specifications this fall, as the new Tundra is expected to reach dealerships by the end of this year.
