Ram made waves with its Rumble Bee performance trucks, but there’s another option.
V8s have been dominating Ram’s recent news cycle, but the smaller-displacement 3.0-liter Hurricane is still in the mix as well. Let’s put a pin in that, as I’m bringing up that engine for a reason. In the video below, Kase walks you through a new option to supercharge your V8 Ram 1500 through the Direct Connection program, starting at about $11,000 for the base 5.7-liter Hemi. That said, you can even bump up the output on, say, the 6.2-liter Rumble Bee SRT…putting your horsepower figures anywhere between 600 hp with the 5.7 and 900 horses with the SRT.
How does that work? Well, the Direct Connection kit gets you a 3.0-liter supercharger (so yeah, lots of potential for extra power between that and the Hemi’s baseline figures). You can also supplement that upgrade with Ridetech suspension and a MagnaFlow exhaust. Depending on whether you stick with a $63,000 5.7-liter Ram Rumble Bee or go for the $72,000 Ram 392 Rumble Bee or the $90,000-ish Ram SRT, then you can add however much you’re willing to go onto that to create a 600-hp, 700-hp or 900-hp monster.
Particularly at the top end of the food chain, the Direct Connection setup gives you that extra oomph if the standard SRT Rumble Bee’s 777-horsepower output just isn’t enough. I mean, you do you, right? Some folks just have to go absolutely berserk, and that’s what this new option gets you. This kit replaces the standard 2.4-liter supercharger with that 3.0-liter unit, though you’ll blow well past the $100K mark between the truck, the supercharger kit and the installation costs.
There is more good news, though. Assuming you get it installed through a certified shop, you still maintain your factory warranty…even with up to 900+ horsepower on tap.
Which one should you get? Well, that partially depends on your budget. However, there are now several options in that price spectrum from your base Ram 1500 Rumble Bee to your built-out 6.2-liter SRT with the bigger supercharger, exhaust, and whatever other mods you want to throw at it.
