One this episode of “Dude, I Love or Hate My New Ride!” – it’s a new 2020 GMC Sierra HD AT4 truck that Kevin recently purchased to do some fairly heavy camper hauling.

The Sierra heavy duty truck is all new for 2020. The truck you see here is a crew cab standard bed 4×4 with an AT4 off-road package. This is currently the most off-road worthy heavy duty truck from GM (barring the Silverado HD with a Z71 package with similar features).

This truck can be had with either a new 6.6-liter gas V8 or a new 6.6-liter Duramax diesel V8. Kevin’s new truck is a diesel. The L5P turbo-diesel still produces 445 hp and 910 lb-ft of torque, but it’s now mated to an Allison 10-speed automatic transmission. No more 6-speed Allison with the diesel.

Kevin and his wife are upgrading to a larger camping trailer and want a bigger and heavier truck for a more stable and capable towing vehicle. Kevin traded in his Ford F-150 to get this truck. Although the new camping trailer overall weight (around 10,000 lbs) is still within a F-150 towing capacity, the trailer is physically large. This poses a towing challenge on the highway at higher speed and with strong winds.

Here are all the features on this new 2020 GMC Sierra HD AT4.
