Report: Will There Be a Jeep Gladiator “Hercules” High Performance Truck?

The new 2020 Jeep Gladiator is not even on sale yet, and rumors are already starting about a high-performance version of the off-road truck. It’s referred to as “Hercules”, and this report comes to us courtesy of JeepGladiatorForum.com.

The Jeep Gladiator will launch with a 3.6L gas V6 engine and 285 horsepower. A turbo-diesel is also in the plan to be available in 2020. JeepGladiatorForum report claims that Jeep is evaluating a high-performance version of the Gladiator truck. This is still early planning, according to an anonymous source. It’s not clear whether a truck like this will be green-lighted for production.

The report says the “Hercules” truck would target the Ford Raptor as competition. It’s likely it’s more aimed at the Chevy Colorado ZR2 or a future Ford Ranger Raptor (if one will come to the United States).

Jeep already alludes to a “high speed” off-road mode on the upcoming 2020 Gladiator truck. This could be the beginning of a higher-peformance Jeep truck of the future.

What might be under the hood of such an off-road monster? The report provides no information about this. What engine would you like to see in this hypothetical Jeep?

Many aftermarket companies offer a way to put a V8 engine under the hood of a Jeep Wrangler. Perhaps Jeep would like to offer a V8 engine from the factory?
