A recent report from Jeep Scrambler Forum suggests that the highly anticipated Jeep Wrangler-based pickup truck will be named the Jeep Scrambler, bringing back a name from Jeep’s past. There are four big take-aways from the information that the forum is reporting. Reportedly, the truck will get a turbo-diesel engine, convertible top options, and a longer frame. 2019 Jeep Scrambler
The forum report suggests two important pieces of information. First is that what many have referred to as Wrangler Pickup, should now be name the Jeep Scrambler. The midsize pickup truck’s internal codename is JT.
Engine
At least the 3.0L EcoDiesel V6 engine has been confirmed by the screenshots posted on the forum. The screenshots suggest that the engine will be shared between the 2018 Jeep Wrangler (JL) and the 2019 Jeep Scrambler (JT).
Soft and Hard Tops
The forum also reports that the pickup truck will have three different convertible top options: two version of the three-panel hardtop, and a soft top as well.
Frame, Suspension, and Axles
The cad engineering drawings of the 2019 Scrambler frame show the truck to be 33-inches longer than the Jeep Wrangler four-door. The Scrambler pickup truck will also have four doors, but the need for a pickup bed requires a frame stretch. The huge question remains: will the Jeep Scrambler truck have all of the off-road capability of some of its competitors: Chevy Colorado ZR2 and Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro?
Here is everything we know so far about the 2018 Jeep Wrangler (JL).
