The anticipation of the next-generation Ford Ranger is getting more intense. Ford announced the next generation midsize pickup truck for the U.S. market at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show, but left all details and specifications release until a later date. We do not know much about the upcoming Ranger, but we are pegging it as a 2019 model-year truck. It’s possible it will also be labeled as a 2020 model.
The prototype you see here is wearing a more revealing camouflage. The shape and fitment of the body panels is fairly clear. The front of the prototype appears very similar to the current generation of the Ford Ranger that is sold in other countries. Recent reports claim that the upcoming Ford Ranger will have a front-end appearance that will differentiate it from the current truck.
There is still no certain information about what is under the hood. It is likely to be a small-displacement EcoBoost (turbocharged) gasoline engine. The next Ranger is also rumored to offer a turbo-diesel engine option.
