Top 8 New Trucks For 2017 and Beyond: Most Anticipated Pickups

(This episode is brought to you by the Air Lift Company.)

8. 2017 Honda Ridgeline

This is the second generation of Honda’s pickup truck. It has similar payload and towing capacities as the first generation truck, but it’s all new. It is more powerful. It has a larger bed. The truck has an advanced AWD system with torque vectoring, and the base model comes with FWD. A pickup truck with FWD architecture? Yep. It’s targeting a customer who may not need heavy hauling or towing capabilities, but who still requires the utility of a smaller pickup truck.

7. 2017 Nissan Titan Light Duty

The 2017 light duty version of the Nissan Titan is whole new animal. It shares the overall styling and interior design with the heavier 2016 Titan XD. However, it rides on a lighter-duty frame, it has unique suspension tuning, and it has a lower hood and shorter front fenders because it does not have to accommodate the 5.0-liter Cummins V8 turbo-diesel. The 2017 Titan light duty arrives for sale in a few months and it will be powered by the 5.6-liter Endurance V8 gas motor that also does duty in the Titan XD. The power specification may be slightly different, but the new engine design is shared.

6. 2017 Ford F-150 (2nd gen. 3.5L EcoBoost V6 / 10-speed Auto)

The second generation 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine may has the same displacement as the engine it’s replacing in the 2016 F-150, but the engine is completely redesigned from the bottom up. It is still rated at 365 horsepower, but it makes 30 more lb-ft of torque for a total of 450 lb-ft. It is backed up by an all-new 10-speed automatic transmission. This transmission offers 6 under-drive gears, 7th is a direct driver, and 3 overdrive gears. This should make for a good towing truck. A higher output of this engine and the 10-speed automatic transmission will so power the 2017 Ford Raptor.

5. 2017 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro

Hot on the heels of the all-new 2016 Tacoma is the 2017 Tacoma TRD Pro. This is purely an off-road focused machine with unique FOX shocks, underbody skid plates, and off-road tires. If the last generation’s 2015 TRD Pro Tacoma is any indication, the 2017 model should be a success.

4. 2017 Chevy Silverado HD & Sierra HD

We waited a long time for the updated HD trucks from GM. We will have to wait a few more months as the company released only the first images. Both the Silverado HD and Sierra HD will have functional hood scoops. They are there to provide additional cooling to the engines. Presumably, the trucks will get a big power bump for the 6.6-liter Duramax V8 turbo-diesel motor. However, we do not yet know the new power ratings or what the exact engine lineup will be. We cannot wait to hear more.

3. 2017 Ram Power Wagon

The face-lifted Power Wagon gets a new grille and graphic package for 2017. However, it’s not all. It also gets an all new and more premium interior. There is an option to include the Power Wagon tire tread pattern into the seats, similar to the look on the Ram Rebel. The 6.4-liter HEMI and the super 4×4 system remain.

2. 2017 Ford Super Duty

The 2017 Ford Super Duty is all new from the frame to the aluminum body. This is why it makes the number two spot on this list. The frame is now all boxed and uses high-strength steel. The aluminum cab is shared with the F-150. The bed is also made out of aluminum. The truck comes with a choice of three engines: 6.2-liter gas V8, 6.7-liter turbo-diesel V8, and 6.8-liter gas V10. The truck has high tech features such as Adaptive cruise control and a seven-camera surround view system that includes a wireless trailer camera. Prices range from $33,700 and all the way up to $88,600.

1. 2017 Ford Raptor

It is still the Ferrari of trucks. The 2017 Ford Raptor is all new. It has a reinforced F-150 frame. It has a redesigned suspension that features 3-inch diameter FOX shocks. It has a new terrain management system. The big news is under the hood. The high-output of the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine is the only engine option. The exact power output has not yet been released. The engine is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission.
