Another Dominant Sales Month for the Toyota Tacoma [Sales Report]

The Toyota Tacoma continues to dominate midsize truck sales, posting more sales in October than all the other competitors combined.

The Taco racked up 15,233 sales for the month, up 17.1 percent from October 2014. Sales for the year are also up 16.6 percent for a total of 148,905.

This is a truly dominating performance for Toyota, especially since the General Motors twins are brand new and poised to compete in the midsize pickup market.

The first of the twins, the Chevrolet Colorado, took second place for October sales with 7,059. For the year, the Chevy has tallied 70,291 sales. The second twin, the GMC Canyon, sold 2,415 for the month and 24,481 for the year. Even if the sales figures for both GM trucks are combined, they still trail the Toyota by a wide margin.

Bisecting the GM offerings is the Nissan Frontier, which is probably the last of the truly small trucks. The Frontier’s sales are slipping, though, with a 27.5 percent drop from October 2014 and a 16 percent drop overall.

Both the Colorado and Canyon have exaggerated sales increases as they only just went on sale this time last year.
