If you’re shopping a 2026 Ram 1500 truck, you have another (familiar) option to consider.

The 2026 Ram 1500 brings back the Backcountry package, but would you get it instead of the Warlock or the Rebel trucks? Let’s dig into all of the details.

The Backcountry package builds on top of the Ram 1500 Big Horn, which is at the core of the Ram truck lineup. The Backcountry package is off-road oriented. It comes with a lifted suspension (about one inch), skid plates, electronically-controlled rear locker (ELocker), 32-inch all-terrain tires, body color grille surround, special badging (including the interior), and more. The Backcountry package costs $2,995, but it also requires a Level 1 or a Level 2 option groups.

The total starting price of the 2026 Ram 1500 Backcountry is $62,410. You can order the Backcountry with either a 5.7L HEMI V8 or a 3.0L Hurricane twin-turbo I6 engine. This is a well appointed full-size pickup truck that has many comfort features as well as off-road capability and pickup truck utility.

Still, I would lean towards the Ram 1500 Warlock trim level since it has even more off-road capability and starts at a lower price. Indeed, the Warlock is based on the more simple Tradesman trim level. You don’t get heated seats or steering wheel stereo volume controls. However, with the current $3,500 factory incentive – a 2026 Ram 1500 Warlock starts at $51,960.
