If you’re looking to take the plunge on the electric Ram 1500 REV, you’ll only get a 168-kWh battery.
Electric trucks aren’t for everyone, but with Ford, GM and rivals outside the Big Three at least giving folks the option, Stellantis will still deliver the battery-powered Ram 1500 REV to customers…in 2026. In late December, the automaker pushed back the REV by a year to prioritize the Ram 1500 Ramcharger, which will launch this year with a gas engine as a range extender. And now, per a now-confirmed report by Mopar Insiders, it’s axing the REV’s larger 229-kWh battery pack too.
So, when the 2026 Ram 1500 REV does eventually hit the market, you’ll only be able to get the standard 168-kWh pack instead. According to Ram’s current estimates, that sort of juice is good for about 350 miles on a charge. Compare that to the Ramcharger’s estimated 690 miles of range, however, and this decision will likely skew the split between the two trucks even more heavily in the range-extended truck — though the waning interest in Ram’s fully-electric REV was already self-evident even before this decision.
While both trucks ride on Stellantis’ new STLA Frame platform, the upcoming Ram 1500 Ramcharger sports a 3.6-liter Pentastar gasoline V6, in addition to the 92-kWh battery pack. The REV packing a bit more than double the capacity will obviously help its all-electric range, but we’re not sure whether exactly how much the completely electric model will cost against the Ramcharger, especially as tax incentives toward EVs (and even plug-in hybrids) may be on the chopping block.
For some perspective on the Ram 1500 REV’s potential price tag, the least expensive Ford F-150 Lightning Flash with an 131-kWh extended-range batthttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0UWI6c3yf0ery comes in at $70,090 before currently available incentives. The Chevrolet Silverado EV LT Extended Range, with a battery capacity around 180-kWh and a range of 408 miles, comes it at $75,195.
While the larger battery pack is no longer happening, we did get some coverage on the upcoming Ram 1500 REV (and most of the information should still be accurate) in the video below:
