Ram Recalls 72,000 Trucks for Blank Instrument Cluster Displays Due to Software Glitch

Impacted owners will be notified in January

As you’d expect, the gauge cluster failing to display critical information presents a safety issue.

If you own a 2025-2026 Ram truck, you’ll want to pay attention to this latest recall. Some of you may have encountered this issue yourself: Your instrument panel cluster display may go completely blank, and now Stellantis is taking formal action to try and address the issue. According to what the automaker told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), a software glitch could cause the cluster in some trucks to go black at startup or while driving.

The NHTSA report lists 72,509 trucks in the recall population, including:

  • 43,427 Ram 1500 pickups built between October 3, 2023 and November 12, 2025;
  • 19,670 Ram 2500 pickups built between July 18, 2024 and July 19, 2025;
  • 8,967 Ram 3500 pickups built between July 18, 2024 and July 19, 2025;
  • 103 Ram 3500 Cab Chassis built between March 24, 2025 and July 19, 2025;
  • 101 Ram 4500 Cab Chassis built between March 14, 2025 and July 19, 2025; and
  • 241 Ram 5500 Cab Chassis built between July 18, 2024 and July 19, 2025

Impacted trucks have the early examples of Ram’s 12-inch instrument panel cluster, so this does not impact the mixed analog-and-digital setup with a smaller center display. According to the automaker, trucks built after the dates listed above, where the suspect digital clusters were no longer used in production.

What’s the fix?

Apart from the obvious safety issue presented from drivers not getting any critical information through the cluster, the panels’ failure also puts the trucks in the recall population out of compliance with federal motor vehicle standards. According to the NHTSA report, only a small portion (1%) are estimated to actually have the blanking issue, but all affected owners will want to take a trip to their local dealer in the near future.

Not all owners will be notified at the same time, however. While Stellantis has already notified Ram dealers as of December 4, the automaker plans to phase mailing notices out to owners in stages. Those mailers will begin to go out on January 8, 2026, and wrap up near around January 23.

When you do receive a notice, dealer technicians will reprogram the instrument panel cluster with an update to stop it going blank. If that method fails, they will replace the cluster with a new unit, free of charge.

Owners can VIN search their trucks now using the NHTSA’s recall website (recall number 25V-826) or Mopar’s recall page (recall number B4C/B8C, depending on your model).
