Behold the first-ever 2025 Ford Maverick Lobo factory-lowered street pickup truck. Ford is expanding the Maverick lineup with this new Lobo street-performance model. While the Maverick Tremor has an off-road focus with a lifted suspension and all-terrain tires, the Lobo has a lowered suspension and the suspension, steering, and brakes to elevate its on-road performance. Fords says the Lobo could do a drifting maneuver if you were so inclined. Let’s dig in!

2025 Ford Maverick Lobo

Interestingly, this street performance model is not wearing Ford’s “ST” badge. The “Lobo” name is meant to evoke images of family and friends going out in this Maverick for a variety of trips: street cruise, commute, country drive, or hauling/towing some small things. The Maverick Lobo is designed to have 1,000 lbs of payload and 2,000 lbs of towing capacity. (This is lower than the standard Maverick’s 1,500 lbs payload and 4,000 lbs towing capability.)

The Lobo power comes from the same 2.0L turbocharged inline-4 cylinder engine. It’s rated at 237 hp and 277 lb-ft of torque. It does NOT have an 8-speed automatic transmission. Ford’s performance engineers removed one gear from the existing 8-speed, and made it a 7-speed automatic. They say this spaces out the gear ratios a bit better for higher performance driving.

While the power may be the same as other Maverick’s, Ford changed the Lobo’s ride height by around 0.5 inches in the front and 1.1 inches in the rear. The Lobo rides almost one inch lower overall. The springs and shocks are designed specifically for the Lobo. It has a quicker ratio steering from the European Ford Kuga. It has uprated front brakes with a two-piston caliper. The all-season tires that are wrapped around new Lobo wheel options were specifically formulated for higher performance driving.

The Lobo has the Tremor’s dual-clutch rear differential that allows for torque vectoring. The Lobo truck has a new “Lobo” sporty mode that combines the data from all the sensors in the pickup truck and utilizes the upgraded hardware to make for a sporty experience. Ford says this includes autocross worthy precision, or fun drift style driving. We did not get a chance to drive the Maverick Lobo, so we cannot provide any opinion here.

Will we see a higher performance Maverick ST model? Ford did not specify this and we do not have anything official about this at this time.

The new 2025 Ford Maverick Lobo price starts at $35,000. There is a Lobo “High” package that starts at $40,495. The High package includes: heated steering wheel and seats, Ford Co-Pilot360 2.0 driver-assist technologies, a 360-degree camera, spray-in bedliner, a moon roof, and Pro Trailer Hitch Assist and Pro Trailer Backup Assist.
