I am writing to thank you for your honest and accurate truck reviews that helped greatly in my search for a new truck. With a growing young family, I had finally outgrown my 2011 GMC Sierra Extended cab with 200K+ miles and was looking for a full-size pickup. With current trucks as you well know there are plenty of options to choose from and it can be difficult to narrow it down to the ‘perfect truck’. After watching your reviews and doing my research for around a year I finally found what I was looking for.

A 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 LTZ with the LZO 3.0L Duramax I6 and Z71 package is the truck of my dreams. This thing has everything you could want in a vehicle and I am loving the torque from the LZO. When paired with a 10-speed transmission, this truck has plenty of well-delivered power to the road. Your reviews of the ‘Baby Duramax’ were a big factor in selecting this engine over the 6.2 or 5.3L V8s. Having previously owned a 5.3L, I was looking for more power and better fuel economy. The 6.2L V8 has the power but wouldn’t help me avoid the gas pump while the Duramax has given me a 29.3 MPG best from a 60-65 mph cruise through the hills. I have yet to reach 10k miles on the odometer so the engine isn’t even ‘broken in’ yet for a diesel.

It took a while to find a truck locally with all of these options, so I guess it is kind of a rare pairing. I initially wanted the Trail Boss with the Duramax, but after comparing the interiors the LTZ won by a long shot. I had a leveling kit installed not long after my purchase which gets the truck sitting pretty close to the Trail Boss ride height. That and 275/65/20 Radar Renegade RT tires give the truck plenty of ground clearance for my weekends to the duck or deer woods.

“Compared to my old Ford F-250, there is no comparison in comfort, power, technology, or reliability. The one thing they do have in common is the straight-six power. The old trucks are great in that you can wrench on them and don’t have to worry about scratches, dents, or dings. However, having no A/C in an overheating truck in an Arkansas summer really makes you appreciate the creature comforts of life. It’s pretty amazing how far trucks have come over the years and getting to drive old tech along with the new tech helps you to appreciate the new.

When I first took my 3.5-year-old son for a ride in the new truck he asked me, ‘Daddy, can we keep this truck forever?’  My response was ‘Don’t worry buddy, with what this thing cost you will be driving it to school one day whether you like it or not.’

Thank you again TFLtruck, please keep doing what you are doing. Your reviews of all facets of truck abilities, good and bad, are what informed truck buyers are looking for. Although I am not in the market for a truck I will still tune in to see what trucks (new or old) you have to test.

I found the Silverado online at my local Chevrolet dealer. It had a listed MSRP of around $68k, was on sale for just over $63k and they sold it to me for a little over $60,000. The process went as easily as I could have hoped for.

For a low-mile and well-equipped used truck in my area prices were $40-50k. I could not justify spending that much on a used truck. I tend to keep vehicles for a long time (as referenced in my 1986 F-250 that I drove in high school 25 years ago), so I was buying a truck for the long haul (pun intended).  I am looking to get as many miles as possible out of my Chevy as I can only imagine what truck prices will be in 10-15 years.
