This may just be the used truck deal of the year! Brendan found and purchased this 2004 Nissan Titan crew cab 4×4 Off-Road V8 pickup truck for $1,500. How is this possible? Does it have a salvage title? No, it is a clear Colorado title truck. Here are all the details.

This original crew cab Nissan Titan was a trade-in at a dealership. The dealer didn’t want to follow through on refurbishing this truck, so Brendan picked it up. We take it through the off-road obstacles at “Andre’s Pit” at the TFL Tumbleweed ranch to see how this old pickup works.

Its 5.6L Endurance V8 fires up and sounds very healthy. Somebody chopped off part of its muffler, but the catalytic converter is still there. This engine was rated at just over 300 horsepower and 379 lb-ft of torque. It’s mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission. The powertrain has over 235,000 miles on it, and there is vibration coming through the vehicle at certain rpm ranges. I think the engine mounts are worn out. I do not think it has some serious internal engine damage or problems.

The 4×4 system is working, as we are able to switch from 2WD to 4Hi, and then to 4Lo. This 4×4 Off-Road model is a precursor to the current Nissan Pro-4X trucks. It’s equipped with a front skid plate and tow hooks, but no selectable rear locker.

This truck has evidence of an accident on its passenger side, but the frame is straight and in good condition as far as we can tell. The truck has a rusty rear receiver hitch and a wobbling spare tire. These are all small things! The truck’s interior is in OK shape. There are stains and a part of the driver’s seat cushion is missing. We did not detect any weird smells.

Best of all – it has a color-matched bed topper that is very valuable on its own. Wow!

The truck tackled all “Andre’s Pit” obstacles without a lot of trouble. The 4WD system does its job. This is an impressive bargain. Indeed, Brendan has dealership contacts, but anybody could purchase this old Titan for well under $3,000.
