Ram recently announced the end of the 2023 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel production (that stops near the end of this calendar year). It got us wondering about the Jeep Gladiator and Wrangler with the 3.0L EcoDiesel V6 engine. As Jeep announces the 2023 Wrangler Rubicon FarOut edition, it marks the end of the diesel engine for the Wrangler. However, the turbo-diesel remains in the 2023 Gladiator.

The Wrangler Rubicon FarOut edition can be ordered through November of this year. Still, Jeep officially says “Gladiator will continue to offer the 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 in addition to the standard 3.6-liter V6.

The turbo-diesel will continue to produce 260 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque. What will happen after the 2023 model year for 2024? It’s too early to know. Jeep has not announced any other powertrain news for the 2024 Gladiator and beyond.

This news makes the 2023 Jeep Gladiator the only midsize pickup truck on the U.S. market with a turbo-diesel engine. The redesigned 2023 Chevy Colorado and 2023 GMC Canyon will no longer offer a diesel engine option.
