Is this the upcoming 2022 Ford Expedition Timberline off-road SUV? Take a look at this prototype that TFLtruck viewer – Cameron – spied in the wild. This full-size SUV is wearing the latest exterior styling of the upcoming Expedition, but there is more to it. A closer inspection of the front reveals a large front skid plate and red or orange front tow hooks. This suggests that it may be the new Timberline off-road model.
Ford recently officially unveiled the 2022 Ford Explorer Timberline. The Timberline model is now the most off-road worthy Explorer model the company will offer. It has a raised ground clearance, a limited slip differential, stronger components from the Police Explorer SUV, more aggressive tires, skid plates, and more. Could Ford be applying the same recipe to their full-size Expedition SUV? It’s very likely, although Ford has not officially confirmed this yet.
The other rumors suggest the 2022 Expedition refresh will include an updated interior and a new powertrain option. Our guess is that the Expedition and the upcoming refreshed 2022 Lincoln Navigator will use some version of Ford’s 3.5-liter twin-turbo Powerboost Hybrid powertrain. The F-150 Hybrid currently offers a 430 hp and 570 lb-ft of torque. The new Expedition and Navigator may use a similar powertrain with slightly different tuning.
Take a look at the refreshed 2022 Ford Super Duty interior. Will the Expedition use the same look? We think the SUV will use a slightly different and unique design.
