Here is another close view of the upcoming 2022+ Ford Maverick. While this new unibody pickup is still not officially confirmed by Ford, it has been testing in public extensively. This time – TFLtruck viewer – Justin captures these five prototypes near Mesa, Arizona.
Four of the prototypes still have extensive camouflage that makes them appear to be stretched crossovers or SUVs. One of the test vehicles has much fewer coverings. It shows off stylish wheels and many other exterior design features. Close inspection of the wheels suggests that the prototype is equipped with a version of the Ford Bronco Sport AWD / 4×4 system.
The Maverick is expected to share many components with the successful new Bronco Sport. This includes the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 250+ horsepower. Ford will have to compete against the 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz that comes with a 2.5-liter turbo with over 275 horsepower in their premium trim levels.
This new compact crossover pickup is expected to make a world debut sometime this year and go on sale within a year from now. Once again, Ford has not confirmed anything on this matter.
Here is video of a completely uncovered Maverick pickup that was seen filming in San Diego, CA several weeks ago.
