First off, the newest Chevy police truck is powered by a familiar 5.3-liter gas V8 with the older AFM (Active Fuel Management) and a 6-speed automatic transmission. AFM allows the engine to switch between 4 or 8-cylinder running modes. It’s more of a base setup you will also find in the civilian version of the truck. The power rating is still 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque.

The 4WD versions of the truck are available with a two-speed Hi/Lo transfer case. The rear differential ratio is a 3.42, and the automated G80 rear locking differential can be had.

The optional SSV police package top speed varies between 99 – 112 MPH, depending on the tires and truck configuration. The speedometer is calibrated up to 120 MPH. The SSV Silverado can also be configured with 65, 70, or 75 MPH top speed governor packages in case the police department requires it.

Here are the latest 2020 features on the truck.

The police truck can be configured for a maximum payload of 2,060 lbs and/or 9,800 lbs of maximum towing.
