It’s time to run some numbers on our 2020 Ford F-250 “Super Tremor” before we make modifications to it. On this episode, Tommy puts our 7.3-liter V8-powered Super Duty up against a turbo-diesel Jeep Wrangler for a fun drag race.

As always, we are at our IMI Motorsports test track. It’s a mile above sea level, so naturally aspirated engines lose a bit of power. Nonetheless, the new 7.3-liter V8 engine is rated at 430 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque. It’s mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. The project truck we bought is equipped with a 3.55 rear axle ratio.

The first run is simply using two-wheel-drive (with traction control and stability control disabled). Tommy got a 8.66 sec 0-60 MPH run.

Next, Tommy went to 4×4 and make sure that all the power goes to the ground without slip. The final 0-60 MPH time was 8.51 seconds.

If the truck was at sea level, you can expect times that are 1 to 1.5 sec quicker. This 7,000 lbs Ford F-250 can accelerate with authority.
