2019 Ram Heavy Duty Kentucky Derby Edition Debuts With 1,000-Truck Production Run For the Horse Enthusiasts

The Kentucky Derby Ram HD will go on sale this fall.

To celebrate the 145th running of the Kentucky Derby and Ram’s 10-year anniversary as the official truck of Churchill Downs, here is the 2019 Ram Heavy Duty Kentucky Derby Edition. Based on the most luxurious Limited model, this truck should suit the horse lovers out there who demand the best in their trucks. Actually, the best and then some.

The 1,000-unit limited run edition is available on almost any configuration of Ram HD. Trucks with the 6.4-liter Hemi or 6.7-liter Cummins in 4×2 or 4×4 and Mega Cab or Crew Cab configurations, with a single rear wheel or dual rear wheel and 6-foot-4 or 8-foot bed lengths can spec this special model.

Ram touts exclusive content in the Kentucky Derby Edition that enhances the truck for towing. Features start with a 360-degree surround-view camera with trailer-reverse guidance and fifth-wheel/gooseneck prep. This version has air suspension with bed lowering, Forward Collision Plus with trailer braking, a bed step and a DOT safety kit on board. All these options are available on the normal Ram HD Limited, but some come at an extra cost.

The exterior, however, includes some bespoke touches. As with the light duty Kentucky Derby Edition, this HD version has an exclusive billet-style grille with body-color bumpers. The 2019 Ram Heavy Duty Kentucky Derby Edition is available in seven exterior colors: Pearl White, Delmonico Red, Diamond Black Crystal, Granite Crystal, Max Steel or Patriot Blue.

Inside, you get unique Black and Saddle Brown seating and trim, accented with Greystone stitching and piping. As with the normal Limited, you also get Ram’s 12-inch Uconnect infotainment display, as well as power running boards. Mega Cab models get reclining rear seats as standard equipment.

Price

The 2019 Ram Heavy Duty Kentucky Derby edition starts at $68,595 for the Ram 2500 and $69,935 for the Ram 3500. That includes a $1,695 destination fee, and runs up to about $1,700 more than a similarly-equipped Ram HD Limited.

The 2019 Ram Heavy Duty Kentucky Derby Edition will go on sale in the 3rd quarter of 2019. If you’re interested, get one while you can, as the run is only limited to 1,000 trucks.

The 145th running of the Kentucky Derby is coming up on Sunday, May 4, 2019. Stay tuned to TFLtruck.com for more Ram news, views and real-world heavy duty reviews!
