Old vs New: Nissan Titan vs Hummer H2 vs Cliffhanger 2.0 – Titan Trials Ep.3

Running up Cliffhanger 2.0 has become a staple off-road test here at The Fast Lane Truck, and it was only a matter of time before our long-term Nissan Titan Pro-4X made the journey.

But we didn’t take the Titan alone. Originally, our big yellow Nissan was going to face off with Big Green (our 1985 Chevy K10) on Cliffhanger 2.0, but sadly BG didn’t make it to the trail. Stay tuned for more on that later…

So, we brought the next best large GM truck in our stable: a 2003 Hummer H2.

Running the Titan up Cliffhanger 2.0 was surprisingly easy, at the General Grabbers has plenty of traction on the loose rocks. The 5.6-liter V8’s 390 hp and 394 lb-ft of torque felt strong with low-range engaged, despite the relatively weak 2.93 axle ratio. The biggest hurdle presented by the Titan was its large bulging hood, robbing clear sightlines to the ground in front of the tires.

For off-road gear on our Pro-4X Titan, we have skid plates, General Grabber tires, Bilstein shocks in the rear and a rear locking differential.

The Hummer certainly came prepared as well with BFGoodrich KM/3 tires, a rear locker, rock rails and a 6.0-liter V8 making 316 hp and 360 lb-ft of torque.

The massive Hummer crashed up Cliffhanger 2.0 with very few issues either, although it probably used twice as much fuel on the way up!
