We recently got a question at ask@tfltruck.com about testing every possible combination of half-ton truck engines and transmission. While we have tested most popular powertrains already – this begs a question: What is your favorite engine/transmission combination for a half-ton pickup truck?
Yes, we did not list some low-volume engine/transmission options or engines not available yet: GM 5.3L V8 with eAssist mild-hybrid or the Ram 5.7L V8 with eTorque mild-hybrid. Also, the current GMC 5.3L V8 can be had with an 8-speed automatic.
