Take a look at the 2018 Nissan Frontier NP300 Diesel truck that is being sold in Mexico. It has all of the sleek lines and the roof racks as the prototypes that were recently spotted.

This NP300 Frontier is offering several engine and transmission options, including two turbo-diesel drive trains. There is the regular YD25 2.5L turbo-diesel (161 hp and 297 lb-ft of torque) that is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. There is also a higher output version of the 2.5L turbo-diesel with 188 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque and a 7-speed automatic.

The YD25 engine has been around for many years in different markets around the world, however – it has not been officially confirmed that this engine is coming to the United States. There were rumors of the 2.8L Cummins turbo-diesel, but it is only speculation at this time. Nissan USA has not specific when or if the new version of the Nissan Frontier is coming to the United States. They also have not discussed any potential engine options.

The design inside and out looks updated, yet familiar. The 2018 model year of the NP300 has many convenience and luxury features we come to expect in a pickup truck: several different models, upscale interior, keyless start, LED lights, 4×4 system with low range, rear locker, hill descent control, heated seats, many storage compartments, and more.

We hope that Nissan bring the next Frontier to the USA very soon. If it looks like this NP300 from Mexico and has similar performance figures, then it will be a much welcome and competitive entry in the rejuvenated segment.
