The second episode in our TFLtruck’s Drag Race Week series is a HEMI V8 grudge match. It’s the Ram 1500 Sport Night edition with the 5.7L HEMI V8 versus the Ram Power Wagon 3/4-ton with the 6.4L HEMI V8. The half-ton truck is rated at 395 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque, and the HD truck’s bigger HEMI is rated at 410 hp and 429 lb-ft of torque.
The Ram 1500 Night edition also has a couple of performance enhancing parts up its sleeve: Mopar intake and Mopar cat-back exhaust systems. Mopar does not have a certification on how much power these intake/exhaust parts provide, but the sound of the 5.7L V8 is a sweat song. You should watch the video to get the full sound experience.
The Power Wagon is a lot heavier than the Ram 1500, but doing these side-to-side acceleration comparisons are just so much fun. It also shows the real differential between the trucks.
Here is Episode 1: Chevy Colorado ZR2 vs Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro.
