With SEMA well underway, and a load of new performance parts flooding the market, some of you may be itching to get your hands dirty with a little DIY modification. If your vehicle is still in its stock form, and you don’t want to try anything too crazy, a performance air intake could be the perfect starting point.
The equation for internal combustion of course involves gasoline, but oxygen is also an extremely necessary piece to this puzzle. Installing a new air intake can do a number of things, but most importantly it supplies the engine with more oxygen, allowing the ECU to put more fuel in the system, thereby producing more power. Now there is some debate as to whether or not aftermarket intakes actually do increase power on their own, however they are a necessary upgrade when heavily tuning a vehicle.
As a bonus, not only does an aftermarket intake have the potential to make more power, but the less restricted airflow can help your vehicle make a more beefy noise.
