The Ford F-Series continued to be the best-selling truck brand in the nation, posting a strong sales month in which other competitors were down from October.
Month-over-month sales for all classes of competitors were down, presumably thanks to the inevitable arrival of winter weather and a busy holiday season. The Ford, however, was nearly flat, with a half-percent drop in sales from October. Over last year, the F-Series is up over 10 percent.
Taking its familiar spot in second place is the Chevrolet Silverado, whose sales were up five percent from last year despite dropping nearly 13 percent from October. For the year, though, the Silverado has the biggest increase of nearly 14 percent.
Ram again took the bronze with the only other sales increase over last year, a two percent gain. For the year, the Ram is up 3 percent.
GMC’s Sierra took a big year-over-year hit with a drop of nearly 27 percent from October 2014. Sales are still up for the year at 4.4 percent.
The Toyota Tundra continues to soldier along with nearly flat yearly sales compared to last year despite a 10 percent drop from October 2014. Nissan really needs the next-generation Titan to be a success, especially after seeing the current model’s dismal sales.
Many TFLtruck fans have pointed out that the GM entries should be combined. Since GM insists on having two truck lines, the sales chart will continue to show them as separate entries. Interestingly, though, this month the GM twins failed to outsell the Ford with a combined sales of 61,528. Previous months, their combined sales put them in the lead. For the year though, the duo’s sales of 734,253 top the Ford’s sales by more than three Titans.
This begs the question, is it time for GM to ditch GMC and just have one truck brand? Start the conversation in the comments below.
