Take a look at the new 2027 Chevy Silverado 1500 lineup. General Motors is finally taking the wraps off its latest full-size pickup truck. We have the official pictures and data provided by the company. Did Chevrolet do enough to keep the Silverado 1500 in the lead? Let’s dig in!

Exterior details
The 2027 Silverado 1500 has fresh styling all the way around. It’s an evolutionary step forward. It’s new, yet it’s instantly recognizable as a Silverado 1500. The new truck will have seven trim levels: Work Truck, Custom, Custom Trail Boss, Silverado, Trail Boss, High Country, and ZR2. The ZR2 Bison package returns for 2027. American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) continues to collaborate with General Motors with a full lineup of premium off-road trucks.
You read that correctly, the new Silverado trim replaces the mainstream LT trim. Also, there is no LTZ trim.
All of the cab and bed configurations remain the same as they are. You will be able to get a two-door work truck. The extended double cab and the lager crew cab remain the same size. This truck basically has the same foot print as before.
Powertrain details – two new V8s!

The rumors were spot on. The 2027 Chevy Silverado 1500 lineup is being introduced with four engine choices.
- The base engine is the 2.7L TurboMax I4 gasoline engine that Chevrolet says is enhanced. It’s now paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The 8-speed automatic is no more.
- The efficiency power plant remains the 3.0L Duramax I6 turbo-diesel. It’s paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
- The Chevy “350” cu-in returns as the new 5.7L V8.
- The top of the line engine is the new “400” cu-in 6.6L V8 engine. GM says it is the most powerful naturally aspirated engine in the segment. Both V8 engines are paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
There is no mention of any gas/electric or diesel/electric hybrid powertrain options. There is also no mention of a supercharged V8 engine in the Silverado 1500. Chevrolet did not disclose power numbers at this time. The official specs are coming later.
GM says they are planning to start selling the 2027 Silverado 1500 truck by the end of this year.

The 2027 Chevy Silverado gets both tech and ergonomic updates inside
The 2027 Silverado 1500 interior appears to be more upscale than ever before. The overall dash layout reminds us of some other Chevrolet vehicles (including the Tahoe). The Silverado 1500 fits into the new family of interiors, but it has its own unique execution. All trim levels get a digital gauge cluster and a center screen.
The High Country and ZR2 trims also get a large 11.2-inch passenger screen and a large heads up display. GM says the new Silverado 1500 can be optioned with up to 60-inches of screen, including the digital rear view mirror.
These trucks can be equipped with dual mag-safe wireless charges, a center console that can open up into a table, and there is a new panoramic sunroof.

What about off-roaders?
The new Silverado 1500 continues with three off-road trims: Custom Trail Boss, Trail Boss, and ZR2. The slightly milder Z71 package is also available on other models such as the Silverado trim. The Trail Boss models get a 2-inch suspension lift and 34-inch all-terrain tires. This is a larger tire than was available before.
The ZR2 takes it several steps higher with 35-inch all-terrain tires and latest DSSV Spool Valve dampers by Multimatic. The ZR2 also gets jounce shocks for those more intense off-road excursions. The ZR2 still offers front and rear selectable locking differentials. The ZR2 Bison provides extra protection with AEV front/rear bumpers, skid plates, and rock sliders.
There is no mention of adjustable or semi-active DSSV dampers.
Chevrolet continues the course and does not offer major surprises with these newly updated trucks. The company updates the damper tuning, introduces new powertrains, changes the styling inside and out. At first glance, this appears to be more than just an update.
Did Chevrolet do enough to beat the Ford F-150, the Ram 1500, and the Toyota Tundra. The first glance says yes, but there are still many unknowns. Ford already has a competing F-150 Hybrid that Chevrolet has not answered. Ram has an exciting Ram 1500 Rumble Bee muscle truck lineup on its way. Toyota may be cooking up an F-150 Raptor fighter with the rumored Tundra TRD Hammer.
Pricing and additional specs will be available at a later date. In the meantime, please join Kase and I in the video below for all the latest news and discussion.
