Hi, I’m looking to pull a small travel trailer.. No bigger than 24ft. I was wondering what you thought of the f-150 2.7L eco boost compared to the F-150 3.5 L eco boost in terms of the towing between the two.

The 2.7L EcoBoost V6 is a very strong towing machine. It is surprising how powerful the small displacement turbocharged engine is. If the trailer weight does not exceed the 90% mark (safety margin) of the truck’s capacities (max towing, max payload, GVWR, and GCWR), then the 2.7L EcoBoost should be plenty good for this towing need.
In fact, the 2015 Ford F-150 with the 2.7L EcoBoost won the 2015 Gold Hitch award in the light-duty class. This V6 is rated at 325 horsepower and 375 lb-ft of torque. The truck we tested was rated to tow 7,600 lbs. In general, you want around 10% of safety margin when hauling and towing heavy loads. However, the 2.7L powered truck had plenty of power when fully loaded for the Ike Gauntlet run.
If you need to tow much more than 7,000 lbs, then the 3.5L EcoBoost with a longer wheelbase (crew cab, aka Super Crew) is preferable.
