You read that correctly. The 2025 Ford Maverick Hybrid AWD is finally here and it tows more than before. Ford refreshes its successful compact pickup truck, gives it more capability, more technology, and a higher price. Let’s dig in!
The 2025 Maverick is finally and officially here. It’s a mid-cycle refresh, but it’s very important. Ford sold more Maverick pickups than Toyota sold Tacomas over the first six months of 2024. The powertrains remain mostly the same, but Ford beefs up the 2.5L gas/electric hybrid powertrain to enable an AWD option and allow the hybrid to tow up to 4,000 lbs. This is what most customers asked for.
The Maverick Hybrid FWD is once again the base model. It still delivers 191 hp combined at up to 42 MPG in the city, according to Ford. The new Hybrid AWD will deliver up to 40 MPG in the city, according to Ford. The AWD hybrid will be available in XL, XLT, and Lariat trims.
If you option the 4K towing package – it will be able to tow a maximum of 4,000 lbs. This version of the Maverick is also equipped with an integrated trailer brake controller.
The styling is updated and most of the changes are up front. The interior gets an update as well. All 2025 Mavericks will be equipped with a new 13.2-inch infotainment screen and the latest version of SYNC4 infotainment system. 360-degree camera system and adaptive cruise control are available as well.
The 2.0-liter turbocharged I4 engine is back and it’s now only available with AWD. The latest turbo-4 is rated at 237 hp @ 5,500 rpm and 277 lb-ft of torque @ 3,000 rpm. This engine is mated to a 8-speed automatic transmission. While this powertrain is available in many trims, it is the only engine available in the new 2025 Maverick Tremor. The Tremor off-road model is now its own trim that is at the top of the Maverick range. It has a suspension lift, all-terrain tires, and a dual-clutch rear differential that enables a locking feature or torque vectoring.
There are new exterior colors and interior accent colors and materials. There are new optional 19-inch wheel with new Goodyear Wrangler Territory HT tires.
All these changes add up for a desirable little pickup truck. However, the price goes up by $2,375 for a base Maverick XL. The starting price is $26,295 plus a $1,595 destination charge for a total of $27,890. The 2025 Maverick order book opens on August 1, 2024 and deliveries should begin by the end of this year.
