We take a close look and drive the new 2024 Chevy Silverado HD 2500, HD 3500, and HD 6500 pickup trucks! They are all brand new, but they are very different. Which one is your favorite? Let’s dig in!

You often ask us “Should I buy a 2500 or 3500 heavy-duty pickup truck?” You also often say “You do not review less expensive basic trucks…” We aim to answer these questions and comments in this video and story.

Thanks to our friends at Johnson Auto Plaza in Brighton Colorado for making this comparison possible. We focus this mashup on the following trucks.

The Silverado HD 2500 4×4 you see here is one of the most affordable Chevrolet heavy-duty 4×4 pickup trucks you can currently find. At least it was for our search. The new 10-speed automatic transmission that is paired to this gasoline V8 engine makes the truck a bit more peppy and more efficient than before. This truck has a few options that include a snow plow prep package, dual batteries, and a high-output alternator. It has five aux. switches to control additional accessories.

I would have preferred a more basic Silverado 3500 dually for this comparison, but this top of the line High Country is all we could find. This truck shows the latest luxurious interior, an optional gooseneck/5th wheel package, and the latest Duramax turbo-diesel.

We do not test many Class-6 trucks, but this is my second review of the Silverado HD 6500 “medium duty” truck. It’s a big beast that has 4WD and a commercial grade 6.6L Duramax V8 engine. This truck has so much payload capability that it could almost carry two of the other HD trucks on its back.

It’s time to look at some huge and very capable pickup trucks. Check out the video below and see which trucks Alex and I pick as our favorite. Hint: we each pick a dually, but not the same one.
