2024 Chevy Silverado EV RST Gets a Range Boost and a Price Shave

Hey, at least it's under $100,000 now

The 2024 Chevy Silverado EV RST will officially go on sale in the coming weeks.

Before its first deliveries make their way to customers in the first half of 2024, the Chevrolet Silverado EV RST sees a few updates, General Motors announced Wednesday. Among those updates are two that will be welcome news to would-be buyers: better driving range and a lower price.

The RST’s official range number is now available, and it’s 10% higher than what we thought it would be. Instead of the sportier truck with massive 24-inch wheels getting just 400 miles on a charge, it’s instead rated to get 440 miles on a charge. That means only the 4WT does better, though it’s not by a huge margin (the 4WT manages 450 miles, officially).

Thanks to its huge 200-kWh battery pack, the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV RST handily beats the Tesla Cybertruck, Rivian R1T and Ford F-150 Lightning in the range contest. Ford manages up to 320 miles with its electric pickup truck, while the Tesla Cybertruck manages around 340 miles (again, that’s the official estimate) and Rivian manages up to 410 miles.

As for price, the Silverado EV RST First Edition now starts off at $96,495. Before you slam your hands into your desk and yell at the screen that’s still extremely expensive, you’re not wrong. However, it’s still technically better than the price Chevrolet first pitched for it by about $10,000. Even the Work Truck is nearly $80,000, so no matter which way you slice it, the Silverado EV is an expensive proposition.

First dibs will go to First Edition reservation holders, while other options for the Silverado EV RST configurator will go live later this year.
