The all-new 2024 Toyota Tacoma is SO CLOSE to reaching your local dealership. On this “Taco Tuesday”, Toyota publishes the online configurator for the best-selling midsize pickup truck. Here are the least and the most expensive new Tacoma trucks that you can order and buy.
It all starts with a Tacoma SR two-door Xtracab with 2WD at $32,995 (including destination charges). This is no surprise as we reported on this before. The SR grade gets a lower-power 2.4-liter I4 turbocharged engine with 228 hp @ 6,000 rpm and 243 lb-ft of torque @ 1,600 rpm.
Let’s dig deeper into the other grades and options.
The most popular 2024 Tacoma grade will likely be the SR5. It comes in three cab/bed configurations: two-door Xtracab with a 6-ft bed, four-door Doublecab with a 5-ft bed, or a 6-ft bed. The move from the Xtracab to the Doublecab/5ft costs $1,070. Adding a longer bed to the Doublecab costs an additional $500. The SR5 4×4 system costs an additional $3,200.
Most of the new Tacomas will be equipped with a 278 horsepower @ 6,000 rpm and 317 lb-ft of torque @ 1,700 rpm turbocharged engine that is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. You can choose a 6-speed manual transmission with some of the grades. The price does not change too much between the automatic or manual transmission (about $675 difference for the TRD Off-Road grade). However, the engine tuning is significantly different when you get the manual. The redline is lowered and there is less low-end torque available with the manual. The specs are 270 hp @ 5,400 rpm and 310 lb-ft of torque @ 2,800 rpm. The benefit of the manual over the automatic is a lower first-gear ratio for slower crawling speeds while off-road.
Let’s take a look at the TRD Off-Road grade, as this is the one that TFLtruck is buying for a long-term review and testing. It starts at $43,720 with a manual transmission, Doublecab, and 4×4. You cannot configure a TRD Off-Road model with a two-door cab or 2WD. The TRD Off-Road automatic transmission truck starts at $44,395. With just a few options the Off-Road model will have a list price of around $45,000-$47,000.
If you go wild with every option and up to 78 accessories that are available at launch – then the new 2024 Tacoma TRD Off-Road will be the most expensive at over $60,000! You might also be wondering about the new and luxurious Tacoma Limited. This grade starts at $53,595 with destination charges. The closest competitors to the Tacoma Limited are the GMC Canyon Denali and the Jeep Gladiator High Altitude models. You can also accessorize the new Tacoma Limited model to over $60,000.
