It’s finally here! This is the world debut of the first-ever 2024 GMC Canyon AT4X AEV edition.

The AEV edition is based on a very capable Canyon AT4X platform. It’s a factory-lifted midsize pickup with DSSV position-sensitive spool-valve dampers by Multimatic. It has front and rear selectable locking differentials. Under its hood is a high-output 2.7-liter turbocharged I4 engine that makes 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque.

The AEV Edition gives the AT4X an additional 1.5 inches of suspension lift and 315/70R17 (nearly 35-inch tall) all-terrain tires. These Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires actually measure 34.4 inches in diameter by 12.4 inches wide. These are some of the widest off-road tires GM has ever put on a factory pickup truck.

The AT4X AEV suspension and tire change do not sacrifice any wheel travel over the standard version. This change gives the Canyon AT4X a super-impressive and class-leading 12.2-inch of ground clearance and 26.5 degrees of breakover angle. GMC says that they tested this AEV Edition of the truck on the Rubicon Trail. The testing trucks drove to the trail, completed the trail, and drove home.

A big part of the upgrade is the five boron-steel skid plates that protect the underside of the radiator, the steering components, the transmission & transfer case, the fuel tank, and the rear differential.

GMC says the new Canyon AT4X AEV Edition will be available for sale later this year, and the pricing will be announced closer to launch.

Jounce shocks or hydraulic bump stops are available on this AEV Edition, but they are not standard. These hydraulic bump stops are also available on the 2024 Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison.
