General Motors Defense company releases this Hummer EV Military truck image and some information about what is called the Electric Military Concept Vehicle (EMCV). According to The Drive – this concept vehicle is made by GM Defense and it has “the same chassis and electric vehicle propulsion system as the GMC Hummer EV.”

The civilian lineup of Hummer trucks and SUVs originated from the military HMMWV or “Humvee”. GMC now has the new electrified Hummer vehicle lineup with the EV Truck and EV SUV. It’s coming full circle back to the military with this new concept.

If the EMCV has the same Ultium platform as the current Hummer EV Truck, then it’s equipped with three electric motors with up to 1,000 horsepower and a 212 kWh battery pack. The civilian Hummer EV truck weighs between 9,200 – 9,400 lbs and has a driving range of up to 330 miles per charge. It’s unclear how much the EMCV weighs, but a lot of the body has been stripped away.

It’s cool to see the roll cage and the open cockpit. The EMCV has large recovery points near the a-pillar and c-pillar to allow it to be airlifted. The original Humvee had very similar attachment points. The EMCV is equipped with a winch and many other tow/recovery and tie-down points.

The report says that the EMCV is equipped with FOX shocks and 37-inch all-terrain tires, so it’s likely this military concept does not have height-adjustable air suspension or four-wheel steer.

Hopefully, this military will be equipped with the 10.2 kW off-board power export feature that is available on the new 2024 Chevy Silverado EV trucks. It allows for the vehicle to export up to 7.2 kW from interior ports while stationary or moving. The additional 3.0 kW can be supplied but the two-directional exterior charge port.

Here is the video about the 10.2 kW power export feature.

Here is a close look at another GM Defense vehicle that is already in production for the military – the ISV (that is based on the turbo-diesel Chevy Colorado ZR2).
