We need big equipment to develop the land at Tumbleweed Ranch. Our friends at Denver East Machinery Company are letting us use this massive John Deere 410J backhoe. We need a way to bring it over to the ranch. We employ a new Ram 4500 HD crew cab chassis cab and a gooseneck trailer provided by our friend Jay Couch at CouchOffroad.com.
We basically max out the trailer and the truck in order to accomplish this task. The Ram 4500 uses a 6.7-liter Cummins I6 engine and a 6-speed Aisin heavy-duty automatic transmission. Jay updated the rear suspension on this Ram truck with air spring helpers. It wears a customized flat bed with a 30K lbs gooseneck hitch.
In this video, we are amazed by the large size of the John Deere 410J. It is a very capable digging and dirt moving machine. It’s equipped with 4WD and some optional equipment (like the boom extension). It maxes out our trailer and truck. We tie it down with six chains and binders and get on the road.
