The Ram Power Wagon and Ford Super Duty Tremor may have new competition from General Motors soon. A new report outlines the possibility of a 2024 Chevy Silverado HD ZR2 and a 2024 GMC Sierra HD AT4X. It makes perfect sense and here is why.

This report comes to us via (MC&T) Muscle Car & Trucks.

It’s no secret that the Ram Power Wagon and the new Super Duty Tremor trucks are very popular. These big heavy-duty pickup trucks combine commercial-grade capability and toughness with off-road ability. You thought the current Silverado HD and Sierra HD are big trucks – just wait until you see these off-road specials!

Chevrolet’s ZR2 midsize pickup truck lineup has proven to be very successful. The company is introducing the new 2022 Silverado ZR2 into the market now. GMC is very happy with its AT4 off-road lineup of pickup trucks and SUVs. A more capable 2022 GMC Sierra AT4X model is coming this spring. There appears to be no limit to how much luxury or off-road capability a manufacturer can pack into a single truck.

MC&T reports that the Silverado HD ZR2 and Sierra HD AT4X will be equipped with fancy heavy-duty DSSV dampers, all-terrain tires, skid plates, more aggressive approach/departure angles and much more. The report says that these models will go on sale as 2024 models. The 2024 model year upgrade is also when we may see a redesigned and more powerful Duramax V8 turbo-diesel engine as well.

There is an HD prototype that was spied in public that was wearing Goodyear Wrangler Territory (AT or MT) tires. These are also the same tire brand that you will find on the new 2022 GMC Hummer EV truck, 2022 Ram TRX, and many other off-road-focused vehicles.

What makes it more plausible is that GM showed an HD-based military off-road concept truck several years ago.
