Are dealerships really flooded with lots of pickup trucks they cannot sell? Nathan and I head over to two of the largest truck dealerships in our area to get to the bottom of this. Turns out it’s more complicated than we thought.

The short answer is – No. We are based in northern Colorado (north of Denver), and we are in a 4×4 pickup truck country. Pickups are very popular in this area. The vehicle inventory has recovered from where it was during the pandemic. There is a huge selection of trucks on the lot, and many of them are selling fast. It’s difficult to believe that the quickest-selling pickup trucks and full-size SUVs are the most expensive ones. It’s difficult to find a GMC Sierra Denali or an AT4X on the lot. The same goes for the Ram Limited trucks and Ford F-Series King Ranch. These are all luxurious trim levels that often list at over $80,000.

In this episode, we visit JohnsonAutoPlaza.com and BrightonFordCo.com to learn everything about the state of the business. This is NOT a sponsored story. We did not get paid to do this.

There is a bit of a surplus of Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer SUVs. There are lots of Ram Big Horn and Ford F-150 XLT trucks.

There is still a shortage of Chevy Tahoe, Chevy Suburban, GMC Yukon, Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison, Jeep Gladiator, Ford Ranger, and Ford Maverick models. It does not always mean that these are not being built. It also means that these are either sold orders or they sell as soon as they arrive.
